INTRODUCTION

Feature Summary: Reservations, Lessons, and Events represent three distinct methods through which members can book or register. System users should select the appropriate method based on the nature and setup of what the member intends to book.

Use Cases: If a member wishes to book time with an instructor, a system user should create a Lesson Type instead of a Reservation Type. This allows the member to specifically select an instructor for their session.

SETUP REQUIREMENTS

Lessons vs Reservations

There are two kinds of bookings on the CourtReserve platform: Lessons and Reservations.

  • Lessons - System users, but not members, normally create lessons on the admin side of the platform. Lessons normally involve an instructor plus one or more players who hope to improve their game. To grant members permission to book their own lessons, check out the Book a Pro feature.

  • Reservations - Both system users and members can create reservations (depending on how the system user configures the platform settings). Reservations normally involve booking facilities (e.g. a court) or equipment (e.g. a ball machine).

Events

If an organization is arranging structured activities like clinics or camps, where the system users choose the courts, times, and instructors, they should set these up as events. This approach allows members to register for a timeslot created by the system user, rather than choosing the date, time, and courts themselves when booking.
