This feature is currently in Beta, meaning it is actively being tested and refined before a full release. It is not available to all organizations. Access is limited to clubs in CourtReserve's Early Access Groups. To request access, contact our Customer Success team via live chat or email.
INTRODUCTION
Feature Summary: CourtReserve's USTA Connect integration allows club administrators to link member profiles with the USTA player database, automatically syncing ITF World Tennis Number (WTN) and USTA National Tennis Rating Program (NTRP) ratings. Once synced, these ratings can be used across the platform for event restrictions, member filtering, and bulk communications.
Use Cases
Rating-Based Event Restrictions: Use WTN or NTRP ratings to restrict event registration to players within a specific skill range.
Automated Rating Syncs: Ensure member profiles always reflect current ratings without manual data entry.
Targeted Member Communication: Filter email, text, and push notification recipients by WTN or NTRP rating.
Member Report Filtering: Pull member lists based on rating ranges.
OVERVIEW
CourtReserve integrates with USTA Connect to support two rating systems: WTN and NTRP. These ratings are bundled within a single integration and can be used across events, member reports, and bulk communication tools.
Note: WTN is a dynamic rating for singles and doubles — similar to DUPR — that can change frequently and displays up to two decimal places (e.g., 9.86). NTRP is a static rating that updates in 0.5 increments (e.g., 1.5, 2.0) and typically only changes once per year. Both are included in the weekly integration sync, which also checks for players receiving a rating for the first time.
NAVIGATION
Setting Up the USTA Connect Integration
1. Navigate to Settings on the sidebar.
2. Scroll to the bottom row under Additional Features.
3. Under Integrations, locate the USTA Connect Integration option, check to enable it, and click Setup.
4. After initial setup, a USTA Connect icon will be available in the Additional Features row.
FUNCTIONALITY
Bulk Sync
Initial Bulk Sync
When the integration is first enabled, a bulk sync is triggered automatically. CourtReserve will attempt to match existing members against the USTA database using five criteria: first name, last name, email address, date of birth, and gender. All five must match for a successful link.
Weekly Rating Updates
Following the initial sync, ratings are updated automatically every Thursday morning, when CourtReserve receives the updated ratings file from USTA.
Manual Player Sync
Admins can manually sync all player profiles at any time using the Sync Player Data button on the USTA Connect page. This is particularly useful for players who did not have a rating at the time of the initial bulk sync but have since received one.
Audit Log
Admins can view sync activity — including account linking, rating updates, and unlinking actions — in the Audit Log within the USTA Connect page.
Member-Side: How Members Link or Create a USTA Account
Members can link their USTA account from the Personal Information page within their CourtReserve profile. A dedicated USTA Connect Ratings section displays the current linked or unlinked state. To link, a member enters their USTA number — their first and last name in CourtReserve must match the USTA database exactly.
If a member does not yet have a USTA account, they can create one directly from this screen. Required fields include first name, last name, date of birth, gender, email address, zip code, country, and nationality. Players must be 13 years of age or older to create a USTA account. Members must also agree to a USTA disclosure before completing account creation.
Once a player's USTA account is successfully linked, their USTA Connect Ratings section will display their ITF WTN Singles Rating, ITF WTN Doubles Rating, and USTA NTRP rating. WTN ratings appear in red with the WTN logo icon and a confidence score indicator. If a player does not yet have an rating, the field will display U (Unrated).
Note: When a player's WTN rating is displayed, a confidence score indicator appears as a checkmark icon next to the rating:
Navy blue = High confidence (70–100%)
Gray = Low confidence (below 70%)
Admin-Side: Ratings Tab on Member Profiles
Player ratings are displayed on a dedicated Ratings tab within the member profile. Admins can view a player's WTN and NTRP ratings, as well as their linked or unlinked status directly from this tab.
To link an account, click Link USTA Account and enter the player's USTA account number. The player's first and last name in CourtReserve must match exactly what is on file in the USTA database. If the names don't match, the link will not succeed.
Linked USTA Account View
Once a player's USTA account is successfully linked, the Ratings tab on the member details page will display their USTA Connect Ratings values, showing:
ITF WTN – Singles rating
ITF WTN – Doubles rating
USTA NTRP rating
USTA Number on file for the linked account
Ratings are displayed as a value or "U" if unrated.
Admins can unlink the account at any time using the Unlink USTA Account button.
How Ratings Can Be Used Within CourtReserve
Custom Ratings Page
Once enabled, WTN and NTRP ratings will appear alongside any other organization ratings under Settings > Member Settings > Custom Ratings. Because these ratings are managed by the integration, they cannot be edited manually. The following sections outline the ways WTN and NTRP ratings can be utilized within CourtReserve.
Event Registration Restrictions
Both ratings can be used as registration restrictions on events. Navigate to the Registration Restriction section of an event to apply them. NTRP restrictions use a dropdown to select from its fixed value set, while WTN restrictions allow a minimum and maximum range both for singles and doubles.
Example event on the member portal with a NTRP Restriction:
Member Report Filtering
Both ratings are available as filters in the Members Report. WTN singles and doubles can be filtered by value range, unrated status, or all players including unrated. NTRP uses a multi-select dropdown to filter by specific rating values.
Bulk Communication Filtering
WTN and NTRP ratings can be used to filter recipient lists across all bulk communication tools — email campaigns, bulk text, and bulk push notifications — making it easy to target players within a specific skill range for relevant announcements, clinics, or events.
Summary
The CourtReserve + USTA Connect integration brings tennis ratings directly into your club's workflow. With automated weekly syncs, admin-side linking tools, and support for both WTN and NTRP ratings, clubs can ensure member profiles stay current without manual effort. From event restrictions to targeted communications, these ratings are available across the platform wherever player skill level matters.
