INTRODUCTION

  • Feature Summary: Lower the retail price of an item in the shopping cart.

  • Use Cases: POS admins (and sub-admins with proper permissions) can reduce the cost of an item in the shopping cart by clicking the Discount icon and then manually entering a discount rate or a new price. Optionally, system users can create pre-built discounts (e.g. for staff discounts or special membership types).

PREREQUISITES

Know how to create POS items and launch the POS.

SETUP REQUIREMENTS

Follow these steps to apply a discount.

  1. Add an item to the shopping cart.

  2. Click the Discount icon.

In the popup window, enter a percentage discount or an override price and then click Save. Optionally, select a pre-built discount rate. (see below)

The shopping cart shows the discount, the adjusted pre-tax price, and the total price with tax (if applicable).

Click Checkout and complete the transaction on the next page.

Creating a pre-built discount

Systems users can create a discount rate for specific purposes (e.g. staff discount or special membership type). These rates appear as buttons in the Discount popup.

Go to the side menu and click POINT OF SALE > SETTINGS. A new page displays. Scroll down to the Discount % heading. Click the Add Discount button.

In the popup, enter a discount rate and button name. Click Save. Click Save changes on the Point of Sale Settings page. The new rates appear in the POS discount window.

FEATURE USAGE - USERS' PERSPECTIVE

On the Transaction Details page (click the ALL tab), CourtReserve displays a half-filled circle next to prices in the Amount to Pay column. The icon indicates a discount was applied. Hover the mouse over the icon to see the full transaction price.
