INTRODUCTION
Feature Summary: When a membership's price needs to be updated, system users can choose whether to apply the new pricing only to future members or to all members currently assigned that membership.
Use Cases:
Update a membership's pricing for an upcoming season or year without re-assigning members to a new membership
Apply a new membership price to all current members at once
Limit a pricing change to new members only, leaving existing members at their current rate
SETUP REQUIREMENTS
Log in to the admin panel.
In the side menu, click Memberships. A new page displays.
Click the Individual or Family tab.
Select a membership type.
Click the Membership Price tab.
After editing a membership's price and saving, an Update Existing Memberships checkbox will appear. This checkbox only displays when a price was previously saved for the membership and a new price has been entered.
Update Existing Memberships checkbox behavior:
Unchecked - Only future members will be charged the new membership price. Members currently assigned this membership will not be affected.
Checked - All members currently assigned this membership will have their membership price updated to the new pricing.
Note: Updating existing memberships will not change membership fees that are already posted to a member's account. This setting only affects future membership fees that have not yet been posted.
ADMIN PERSPECTIVE
Example 1 - Update Existing Memberships Unchecked
In this example, the monthly membership price has been updated from $40.00 to $50.00, and Update Existing Memberships is left unchecked.
Because the checkbox is unchecked, only future members will be charged the new $50.00/month price. Members already assigned this membership will remain at their original $40.00/month rate.
Example 2 - Update Existing Memberships Checked
In this example, the same price update is saved with Update Existing Memberships checked.
Because the checkbox is checked, all members currently assigned this membership will have their price updated to $50.00/month automatically - including Mari Bern, whose billing details now reflect the new rate.
Note: Updating existing memberships will not change membership fees that are already posted to a member's account. This setting only affects future membership fees that have not yet been posted.
Regardless of whether Update Existing Memberships is checked, any member joining this membership going forward will be charged the new $50.00/month price.
