INTRODUCTION
Feature Summary: The Min/Max Number of Players Requirement setting allows clubs to specify the minimum and maximum number of player names required when creating a reservation. By enforcing these requirements, clubs can capture accurate participation data and ensure reservation types (like Singles or Doubles) follow the correct format.
Use Cases:
Accurate Participation Tracking: Keep a reliable record of who played and how many players were on each court.
Enforcing Reservation Policies: Ensure that specific reservation types—such as Singles or Doubles—include the correct number of players.
Improved Restriction Accuracy: If your club uses Reservation Restrictions (e.g., limits on play frequency or court time), capturing all player names allows the system to apply these restrictions more effectively.
SETUP REQUIREMENTS
Requiring Player Names on Reservations
Navigate to SETTINGS > RESERVATION SETTINGS > Reservation Types.
Select to Create Reservation Type or edit an existing one.
Next, set the Min Number of Players and Max Number of Players fields, then click Save Changes.
Min Number of Players: Defines the minimum number of player names a member must enter to save a reservation. If fewer names are provided, the system will display an error message and prevent the booking from being completed.
Max Number of Players: Defines the maximum number of player names a member can add to a reservation. The system will block any additional players beyond this limit.
This feature helps club's keep accurate records of who played on each court and how many players participated. It’s especially useful if the club uses Reservation Restrictions (Booking Settings > Restrictions). The system can only enforce these restrictions based on the player names entered for each reservation, so requiring names improves accuracy and compliance.
For example, if you set the Singles - Pickleball reservation type to a minimum and maximum of 2 players, members booking through the portal must enter exactly two names for the reservation to save. If they try to save with only one name, the system will display an error message indicating that two names are required.
Example of admin setup:
ADMIN PERSPECTIVE
Admins are not required to follow the min/max player rule when booking a court from the admin panel. However, as shown below, members cannot bypass the rules and must meet the required number of players.
USER PERSPECTIVE
For this reservation type, where both the minimum and maximum number of players are set to two, the player cannot complete the booking until an additional player is added.
They use the Additional Player(s) field to add another member or, if permitted by the reservation and membership settings, enter a guest name.
Once the reservation is complete, it appears on the player’s My Bookings page, showing the two names of the players.
