An Overview of the CourtReserve App Home Screen and What System Users Can Configure

Written by Mari Bern

INTRODUCTION

Feature Summary: The app home screen is the landing page for the club a player is currently accessing in the CourtReserve mobile app. System users can configure it through several different settings, allowing each club to make it their own. It displays the club's information and, optionally, local weather and location, up to three main action buttons, upcoming bookings, and an Explore More section for anything else players need to find.

Use Cases:

  • Optionally display the club's location and local weather at the top of the home screen

  • Highlight the club's core actions: Events, Book Courts, and Book Lessons (if using Book a Pro)

  • Give players quick access to seasonal programs, memberships, retail, or an external page through Explore More

  • Surface club groups and news without extra navigation

  • Share a time-sensitive message with members through a Global Announcementt

Example of the App Home Screen:

OVERVIEW

The app home screen is made up of six sections: the club card, the membership card, the main buttons, Announcements, My Bookings, and Explore More.

Club Card

The club card sits at the top of the home screen and shows the name of the club the player is currently accessing. Clicking the dots next to the weather info expands the card to show more club info, such as the club's website and hours.

Accessing Organizations

If a player belongs to more than one CourtReserve organization, clicking the arrow next to the club name opens My Organization(s), letting the player switch between clubs. This is a shortcut to the same list found under More > My Organizations in the app's footer navigation. The list itself is automatic and is not something a system user configures.

Location and Weather

If enabled, the club card displays the club's location along with local weather, including temperature, chance of precipitation, and wind.

Displaying Location and Weather

  1. Log in to the admin panel.

  2. Navigate to Settings > Portal Settings in the side menu.

  3. Click the Mobile icon.

  4. Under App Dashboard Setup, check Display Location to show the club's city and state, and Display Weather to show local weather conditions.

  5. Enter the City, State, and Zip Code fields.

Membership Card

Below the club card, a membership card shows the player's profile picture, or initials if no picture is set, along with the player's name and membership type. It also includes a QR code members can use to check in at the club. Tapping the QR code opens a full-screen view of the code along with the member's ID number.

Main Action Buttons

Up to three primary buttons display for the club's core functions. All three button labels can be renamed system-wide.

Note: These buttons can be renamed, but they cannot be replaced with other options. A system user cannot swap one of the three functions for a different feature or custom link.

The default names for these buttons are:

Function

Default Name

Reservations

Book a Court

Event Registration

Events

Book a Pro

Book a Lesson
(only displays if Book a Pro feature is being used)

Note: Screenshots throughout this article show North Star Racquet Club's customized button labels (Events, Book Courts, Book Lessons) rather than the system defaults.

Note: Renaming a button here also changes its label on the member portal website, not just the mobile app.

Renaming the Events button

The Events button can be renamed, for example, to Clinics, Programs, or Activities.

  1. Log in to the admin panel.

  2. Navigate to Settings > Organization Settings > General.

  3. Find Alternate Name for EVENT.

  4. Enter the name you want.

Renaming the Book Courts button

The Book Courts button label comes from the Book Court Navigation Name field on the Navigation tab.

  1. Log in to the admin panel.

  2. Navigate to Settings > Portal Settings > Website.

  3. Click the Navigation tab.

  4. Scroll to the bottom of the page.

  5. Find the Book Court Navigation Name field.

  6. Replace it with the preferred label, for example, Book Courts or Reservations.

  7. Click Save.

Renaming the Book Lessons button

The Book Lessons button label comes from the Book Instructor Navigation Name field on the Book a Pro Setup tab.

  1. Log in to the admin panel.

  2. Navigate to Settings > Instructor Settings > Book a Pro Setup.

  3. Find the Book Instructor Navigation Name field below the scheduler list.

  4. Enter the preferred label, for example, Book Lessons or Book a Coach.

  5. Click Save.

See Book a Pro Setup for the full scheduler setup process.

Announcements

Announcements display only when the club has an active Global Announcement, and appear on the home screen between the main buttons and My Bookings. Announcements are not part of the Explore More section. If a club has no active Global Announcement, this section won't show.

Displaying an Announcement

Announcements are created as Global Announcements. When a club has an active Global Announcement, based on its set dates, it displays on the app home screen.

  1. Log in to the admin panel.

  2. Navigate to Settings > Organizational Settings in the side menu.

  3. Click Global Announcements.

  4. Click Create Global Announcement to add a message.

See Publish Global Announcements for more detail.

My Bookings

My Bookings shows a preview of the member's next upcoming reservation or event booking, including the type, date and time, the player's name, and any relevant tags, such as a court or resource number, or an Unpaid status. Clicking View All opens the member's full bookings list.

If a member has no upcoming activity, the section reads "No upcoming activities" and displays a Get Started button, which lets the member choose Events, Book Courts, or Book Lessons to make a new booking.

Clicking into a booking opens its details. For an event, this shows the event details. For a court reservation, this shows the reservation details. Depending on the club's settings, players can do things like withdraw from an event, edit their registration details, or edit or cancel a reservation.

Explore More

Anything outside of the main buttons displays in the Explore More section, below My Bookings. Most of these options are controlled from Portal Settings > Website > Menu.

  1. Log in to the admin panel.

  2. Navigate to Settings > Portal Settings in the side menu.

  3. Click the Website icon.

  4. Click the Menu tab.

Explore More pulls content from a few different places in the admin panel:

  • Header Links - Custom, editable items that clubs create such as Summer Fun, Fall Leagues, and Junior Camps. System users create, edit, delete, and reorder these from the Menu tab in Portal Settings. See Creating Header Links on the Member Portal.

    • Note: Event filters are another option for a Header Link URL. For example, filter events down to just Fall Leagues, then link the filter under Explore More. See Create Event Filters.

    • Creating a Header Link

      1. Navigate to Settings > Portal Settings in the side menu.

      2. Click the Website icon.

      3. Click the Menu tab.

      4. Click Create Header Link.

      5. Enter a name in Link Display Text.

      6. For a single link, enter the destination URL in Link URL. For a drop-down menu, leave Link URL blank, click Save, then click Create Sub-Link on the new header link's row to add each item underneath it.

      7. Confirm the Display Type setting.

      8. Click Save.

  • Groups - A built-in item tied to Member Groups. It is not created through Header Links. A system user makes a group visible in Explore More by going to Members > Member Groups, opening the group, and checking Display this member group on Member Portal / Mobile under Display Options. See Member Groups and Player Directory.

  • News - A built-in item controlled through its own settings and not created through Header Links. Articles are created under Settings > Portal Settings > Website > News, with categories, display type, active dates, and rich text content. See Portal Settings: Website - News.

    • Note: Adding a News row is required for News to appear in Explore More on the mobile app, matching the member portal's web home page setup.

  • Memberships - A built-in item that shows all available membership plans to anonymous, non-logged-in users. A system user controls this by going to Memberships > Membership Settings, checking Display Membership Link for Anonymous Users, and editing its label under Membership Menu Link for Anonymous Users. Note: A club can also create a separate Memberships Header Link pointing to a specific membership plan page, as shown in the Real-World Example below. This is different from the built-in Memberships item, which is limited to anonymous users.

  • Note: The order set for Header Links using Sort Menu carries over to the order items display in the app's Explore More section. Groups are managed separately and are not reordered using Sort Menu.

Real-World Explore More Example

North Star Racquet Club's Menu tab includes a mix of default system items along with two custom Header Links the club created: Summer Fun and Junior Camps. The plus (+) icon next to those two rows shows they each have sub-links.

On the app, the club's Explore More section shows News, Summer Fun, Groups, and Junior Camps. News and Groups are the built-in items, while Summer Fun and Junior Camps are the club's custom Header Links.

  • Tapping News opens the club's published articles.

  • Tapping Groups opens the member groups available to the player, such as Neighbor Ladies, 4.0+ Women, and Neighbors at the Net Group. Tapping into a group, such as Neighbor Ladies, opens that group's directory, showing its members alphabetically with a search bar and an email icon to contact each member.

  • Tapping Junior Camps opens its sub-links, Summer Tennis Camps and Summer Pickleball Clinics. Tapping into one of those sub-links, such as Summer Tennis Camps, opens the Event List filtered to that program using an Event Filter URL.
